The customer story / The beast in the mountain

Courage meets
the White Hihi.

Early Japanese books described the Hihi (狒々) as a gigantic, humanlike ape of immense strength, infamous for an unsettling laugh. Later regional legends placed the creature deep in the mountains, where fear let it pass for something divine.

In one recorded hero cycle, the wandering warrior Iwami Jūtarō confronts the beast and ends its terror. Yoshitora’s 1859 print captures the collision at its most violent instant: dark-clad warrior, enormous pale body, and a vermilion face burning through the black.

From archive to garment

The artwork is historical.
The composition is ours.

ERAWORN carries the encounter forward without turning the garment into a rectangular reproduction. The chest stays controlled; the back carries the collision; sleeves, hood, and accessories extend its movement.

Ink black comes from the warrior and surrounding darkness. Bone white comes from the Hihi’s immense body. Vermilion marks danger and confrontation.

Archive note 001

Source before surface.

The original work and its documented rights status are the beginning, not the finished print file. Production artwork must be rebuilt at the provider’s exact specifications and reviewed before sampling.
